Talking things through with a qualified counsellor, who has been trained to listen and respond constructively to your concerns, can be a tremendous support through difficult times. It can be a big step to seek Counselling or Psychotherapy initially. Clients sometimes remark about how nervous they feel in the first session but this is quite normal and disappears as confidence is gained through the counselling process.

Having therapy will provide you with an opportunity to work through many of the issues you are finding difficult in your life. You will be given the opportunity to release any trapped emotions and anxieties, and work towards a better understanding of yourself and others.

Counselling will give you the opportunity to explore yourself, your relationships and the direction of your life. However, it doesn't provide all the answers. Counselling is not pressured but you may find it challenging. It is not the job of the counsellor to give unsolicited advice but to suggest other alternatives you may have considered and support you in your search for your own personal solutions.

With reflection, a clearer understanding of your feelings and actions, you will be able to make the needed changes in your life. You will then be open to new opportunities, and a clearer way of thinking, which will result in a better quality of life for yourself and others in your life.
